Who has the authority to interpret the risks of mobile phone radiation?

Newsletter diagnose:funk (special edition)
Published: October 30, 2025
By: Peter Hensinger, M.A., Board Member, and Matthias von Herrmann, Press Officer

This newsletter concerns the German ZDF video: “5G, WLAN & Co – rest assured, they pose no health risk. That’s a delusion of esotericists!”1 The video is subtitled: click the red button, the video starts, and more buttons become visible in the bottom menu bar, activate translation button, click auto-translate in the settings, and choose your language.

Attention: In the video, the presenter with the name “Mai2” is for 100% aggressively violating the science of the biological effects of wireless radiation, is making a fool of scientists who have published evidence-based science about the harmful effects of wireless radiation, is consciously withholding the science about the differences between natural radiation from f.e. earth, and man-made (industrial) radiation from Wi-Fi, cellphones, etc, and therefore brutally indoctrinating the ignorant audience with severe Telecom propaganda, which has to be categorised as Big Tech’s cognitive warfare against the science about the biological effects of wireless radiation“.3

Because of this video diagnose:funk has started a campaign in Germany, which has been explained into detail in this German article: „MAITHINK X – Die Show“ – 5G, WLAN & Co – alles ohne Risiko? Diagnose:funk asks the readers, living in Germany, to react.

1. The dispute over who has the authority to interpret the risks of mobile phone radiation

About campaigns by a cartel consisting of industry, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection and ICNIRP
Author: diagnose:funk

Content of the brochure:
Whether or not mobile phone radiation is harmful to health is not only the subject of a scientific debate about research findings. This debate is also, and above all, about product marketing, in this case the multi-billion dollar business of a key industry. This special report documents the controversy. In 2022, there were four campaigns aimed at reassuring the public, based on four studies with the message: mobile phone radiation is harmless to health, and there is no risk of cancer.

This was supposedly proven by the MOBI-Kids study4, the largest study on brain tumors and children worldwide to date. The UK Million Women Study also allegedly provided proof for adults.

Martin Röösli

In an article on 5G published in the journal Aktuelle Kardiologie, written by ICNIRP member Prof. M. Röösli, this message was specifically conveyed to medical professionals. Members of the German Bundestag were informed by the German Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) and the Ministry of the Environment that the STOA study, which evaluates damage related to cancer and fertility, was unscientific.
Diagnose:funk commented on all of these reports.

02. Current Mobile Phone Radiation Limits Are Inadequate to Fully Protect the Population

Authors:
James C. Lin

Content:
With this new focus topic, diagnose:funk publishes the article “Health and Safety Practices and Guidelines Regarding Human Exposure to RF/Microwave Radiation” by Professor James C. Lin.

James C. Lin

James C. Lin, one of the leading radiation experts, sharply criticizes the ICNIRP exposure limit recommendations, which have been adopted in Germany6: They “are controversial” and “not scientifically justified,” “fail to provide effective risk prevention and disregard central principles of radiation protection.” The limits ignore the “chronic toxicity and carcinogenicity” of the radiation and are therefore “unsuitable” to reliably protect the population.

Lin also evaluates current studies commissioned by the WHO on the biological effects of mobile phone radiation negatively: He speaks of a “lack of scientific quality and an unbalanced presentation,” and criticizes “a discernible bias” on the part of the study authors. Consequently, they downplay the health risks.
